Young women in LaPorte County can now get the HPV vaccine for free.

Health officials say they have doses of Gardasil available for females ages 9 through 26.

This is the age group suggested for vaccine, which protects women from the human papillomavirus, a leading risk for cervical cancer.

The vaccines are available at the LaPorte County Health Department Clinic every Monday and Tuesday from 8:30 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.¬† That’s located at 302 W. 8th Street in Michigan City.
