Chili, N.Y. – “You can’t judge it by the name, the name is so misleading,” says Ben Di Pasquale about his battle with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. “It’s not just about being tired, tired doesn’t even come close to describing it… this is my reality and it might be too much for some people to take.”
For 20 years, a doctor in upstate New York has been trying to prove that an outbreak of the strange syndrome in his community was caused by a virus. Now new evidence is reopening the case.

Scientists have discovered a potential retroviral link to chronic fatigue syndrome, known as CFS, a debilitating disease that affects millions of people in the United States. Researchers from the Whittemore Peterson Institute (WPI), located at the University of Nevada, Reno, the National Cancer Institute (NCI), part of the National Institutes of Health, and the Cleveland Clinic, report this finding online Oct. 8, 2009, issue of Science.
