Women’s Triphasic Reproductive Hormones Shaped Human Evolution

Before the Trinity became ‘three in-one-men,’the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost’, it was composed of ‘three-in-one-women.’ The three Graces, Fates, Furies and many other triple combinations suggest that trinities once marked the three phases of a woman’s life rather than the three spiritual male entities of Christianity.

More on Hormone Imbalance – The Silent Epidemic

Leslie Carol Botha: I agree with what Dr. Ochoa-Maya states that hormones are like an intricate symphony and when one hormone is offbeat that entire melody is ruined.  This is so crucial.  The original symphony comes from the pineal gland in the brain – and is transmitted via hormones ( the communicators) through the entire Continue Reading …

Why Most Men’s Ring Fingers Are So Long

National Geographic Daily News
Finger length linked to aggression, musical ability, sexual orientation.

Is your ring finger longer or shorter than your index finger? The reason for the difference is in our hormones, a new study in mice shows for the first time.

Before birth, the sex hormones estrogen and testosterone control genes that in turn dictate finger length, the study found. Like us, mice naturally have both hormones in their bodies. (Get a genetics overview.)

As a result, most men have ring fingers that are longer than their index fingers, and the reverse is true in women.

Differences in finger length have been repeatedly linked to a range of human traits, from aggression to musical ability to sexual orientation. There are also connections to health problems such as autism, depression, heart attacks, and cancer.

Marsh EE. J Clin Endocrinol Metab. 2011;doi:10.1210/jc.2011-1314.

New data suggest that black women have higher levels of estradiol and lower androstenedione-to-estradiol ratios throughout the menstrual cycle compared with white women, a trend that may contribute to differences in the incidence and prevalence of health issues between these two populations.

Baboon Study Shows Benefits for Nice Guys, Who Finish 2nd

New York Times

Published: July 14, 2011

At last, good news for the beta male.

From the wild to Wall Street, as everyone knows, the alpha male runs the show, enjoying power over other males and, as a field biologist might put it, the best access to mating opportunities.

The beta is No. 2 in the wolf pack or the baboon troop, not such a bad position. But conversationally, the term has become an almost derisive label for the nice guy, the good boy all grown up, the husband women look for after the fling with Russell Crowe.

How Long Should Sex Last?

Letter from Serendipity

Prof. Keith Scott-Mumby’s Total Health Newsletter #82. Week ending Jul 10th, 2011

I came across a survey which purported to set the record straight about how long heterosexual intercourse should last.

You listen to some guys boast and you’d think it was an all-nighter. Whereas the woman often asks “Have you started yet?” when if fact it’s all over!

The verdict from men and women sex therapists surveyed was that 3-7 minutes was deemed “acceptable” and 7 to 13 minutes dubbed “desirable.”

Oligomenorrhea, polycystic ovary syndrome, sex hormones and insulin levels during adolescence may play a significant role in the genesis of metabolic syndrome and severe obesity in young adulthood, researchers report in a new study.

Hormones! Don’t we all love to talk about them?

I sure do because they affect every aspect of our lives. Today we’re going to focus on male hormones and how they can help you look, and feel, better naked!

Hormones & desire

Hormones associated with the menstrual cycle appear to drive sexual attraction more than we know.

Most animals aren’t shy about showing their interest in mating. The male frigate bird puffs out his throat into a gigantic red balloon. Female cats yowl and spray urine during estrus, their time of ovulation and sexual receptivity. And in female chimps, estrus swellings of the external sex organs can get as large as a cantaloupe — not something a male could easily miss.

Hairy situation

Ottawa Citizen
By Sanaz Majid, The Ottawa Citizen March 3, 2011

Hair on men is a sign of their virility; hair on women, not so much. Many of my patients often look a tad embarrassed when asking me about finding hair in places they don’t think it belongs.
