How would your life have been different
if you grew up with
A RED TENT in your neighborhood?

Does your Soul remember
the circles of Maidens, Mothers, Grandmothers, and Ancestors?

These are the questions asked by DeAnna L’am. She is inviting you to ponder them as well by participating in the first Red Tents in Every Neighborhood World Summit in February.

Any cycling woman knows the deep yearning for quietude during her Flow time. Every ounce of our body and soul calls for rest,
while our culture calls us to keep going, no matter what.

The ‘Red Tent,’ ‘Moon Hut,’ or ‘Moon Lodge,’ as they were known in indigenous cultures around the world, was a place of respite for women of old.

The ‘Red Tent’ book published in 1997 by Anita Diamant, became an international best seller. Almost every woman who hears of  the book says: “Oh, I read the book years ago and I LOVED it!” or: “This is my favorite book!”

Why is the ‘Red tent’ such a phenomenon?

It seems that women around the world are touched to their core by this story of the biblical Hebrew tribe of Abraham, Isaac, and red-tent-photoJacob, told through the lens and voice of its women.

At the center of these women’s experience is the “Red Tent”: a space set apart from the hustle and bustle of daily life, where women go to when they menstruate, or get ready to give birth. More than a fictional novel, “The Red Tent” evokes in women a cellular memory of an experience we all shared, for millenniums, around the globe.

Once awakened, this memory becomes a need, a yearning, a birthright…

DeAnna-Sacramento-WEBA pioneer in Menstrual Empowerment, DeAnna L’am is a recognized world expert in helping women and girls make coming-of-age easier, and womanhood richer.

Like many women, DeAnna struggled with PMS and for many years viewed her period as a bother and a nuisance.

In 1992 she began a personal journey toward embracing her monthly cycle, which led her to “reverse the curse!”

Having already been a trained coach and facilitator at the time, she called her first Menstrual Empowerment circle in 1994. The response was overwhelming, and the journey embarked upon — profound.

In 1995 DeAnna coined the term ‘INNER MAIDEN’ as a result of recognizing the deep need in all women for soothing, healing, and reclaiming the adolescent girl within, who may have never been welcomed into womanhood.

In Israel/ Palestine, her country of origin, DeAnna helped Jewish and Palestinian women surpass political, religious, and cultural differences by deeply bonding as cycling women.
Since founding ‘Red Moon’ in 1994, DeAnna has been teaching nationally and internationally, empowering women to reclaim menstruation as source of inner guidance and spiritual renewal; coaching Moms in the art of welcoming their daughters into empowered womanhood, and training women to hold Red Tents in their communities.
