Every woman and girl in certain period of their life encounter an unusual phenomenon in their body – menstruation. This is a normal function of the women’s body, with 28 days of cycle on average, and two-five days of the very menstruation process in every cycle. Every woman experiences certain physical and emotional symptoms in the time of menstruation, and for each of us they are different. But before we get to it, let us define what menstruation really is. It is a great surprise to know that most women actually don’t know for what reason do they bleed every month! Honestly, that’s a shame.

So, every cycle before menstruation the women’s body prepares itself to getting pregnant. If the conception has taken place, the fetus is immersed into the endometrium and the menstruation is cancelled. But when the conception has not been made (which most often is so), the endometrium is coming out of your uterus together with blood.

It is another great myth that it is normal to experience terrible pains and discomfort during menstruation. Nonsense! Everything must be painless, and experiencing pain that severe which seriously makes a woman think that death is a lot better (without the slightest exaggeration) is certainly not normal. Other side effects include headache, breast pains, muscle cramps, indigestion, etc. If you experience some of these symptoms or if your cycle is not regular, you should immediately address a doctor.

Menstruation is the indicator of the reproductive age of a woman, which starts approximately at the age of 13-16 and may end starting from forties. After this a menopause comes, which is another transition period in the women’s body. Menopause means that the woman no longer can have children.
