Washington Post, H1N1 pandemic — rebuttal

By Cynthia A. Janak

The Pandemic is just about all the mainstream media is able to talk about. I am going to reference the article written in the Washington Post, July 10th and show you how these writers are not doing their homework in presenting the facts to the general population.

Mass Campaign Against Pandemic May Begin in Fall

School-age children will be a key target population for a pandemic flu vaccine in the fall, and they may be vaccinated at school in a mass campaign not seen since the polio epidemics of the 1950s. …

I oppose this type of vaccination procedure because the medical history of these children will not be known by the people that will be giving the inoculations. The other thing is that many of the parents will not be present because they either work or have other obligations that prevent them from attending this mass vaccination program. Therefore they will not be available to review the ingredients that are in the vaccine along with the potential adverse events that could happen because of the vaccine. Because of this informed consent in regards to the health and safety of the child will be minimal.

President Obama, speaking by audio link from the Group of Eight summit in L’Aquila, Italy, urged “complete ownership” of preparations for what he termed a “significant outbreak” of H1N1 flu in the next few months.

“We want to make sure that we are not promoting panic, but we are promoting vigilance and preparation,” he said. He added that “the most important thing for us to do is to make sure that state and local officials prepare now to implement a vaccination program in the fall.”

If the President does not want to promote panic among the citizens then he should advise and implement the removal of the mandatory vaccination law that is presently in force in case of a pandemic. This should be voluntary and up to the citizen to make the choice. Also, he should talk about other measures that the citizens should implement to minimize their exposure to the flu like wear face masks and wear gloves.

Children, pregnant women, adults with chronic illnesses, and health-care workers would probably be first in line for the vaccine, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius told the gathering.

One of the things that I know for a fact because I found the patent from Novartis is that there will be a trace amount of thimerosal in this vaccine as a preservative. It is a known fact that even a trace amount can be harmful to a fetus so pregnant women should not receive this vaccine. This is from the FDA’s website. http://www.fda.gov/BiologicsBloodVaccines/SafetyAvailability/VaccineSafety/UCM096228

In its report of October 1, 2001, the IOM’s Immunization Safety Review Committee …

The Committee believed that the effort to remove thimerosal from vaccines was “a prudent measure in support of the public health goal to reduce mercury exposure of infants and children as much as possible.” Furthermore, in this regard, the Committee urged that “full consideration be given to removing thimerosal from any biological product to which infants, children, and pregnant women are exposed.”

It is known that people with chronic illnesses may be more at risk of having an adverse event because of the severe immune response this vaccine is going to create. Several girls that received one of the HPV vaccines that had a pre-existing condition are now disabled.

We know this to be true because of the Gardasil vaccine which is similar in construction has had devastating results on once vibrant, athletic young women. This genetically modified vaccine should not be given. I base this on the fact that medical professionals are advising the public to not eat genetically modified foods because of the risk to health.

A study done by the NVIC (National Vaccine Information Center) found that the genetically modified Gardasil causes 3X more adverse events than Menactra. What could this genetically modified flu vaccine cause. We do not know because the trials will not be long enough before it is administered to the general public.

Education Secretary Arne Duncan said “we would absolutely welcome” the idea that the nation’s schools be a principal venue for delivering the vaccine. He called them “natural sites” and said that “to open our doors and be part of the solution really makes sense”. …

The positive solution to this issue is to instruct the children as to prevention (face masks, gloves and frequent hand washing) and also to encourage that they eat a diet that is rich in fruits and green vegetables to prevent and/or limit the severity of the flu. The position of an educational facility should be to educate and not vaccinate.

The new H1N1 virus, derived from two strains of influenza virus that circulates in pigs, emerged in late April in Mexico and Southern California. Still called “swine flu” by many people, it is now in every state. More than 1 million Americans have become ill from it, and 170 have died. Worldwide, it is on every inhabited continent and is responsible for at least 420 deaths.

I do not know where they got their numbers from but I go directly to the source and that is the World Health Organization. http://gamapserver.who.int/h1n1/atlas.html?select=ZZZ&filter=filter4,confirmed

According to the World Health Organization website the number of reported cases as of July 6, 2009 for the United States and its territories stands at 33,921 not one million. The world wide total is 94,512 with only 429 deaths.

This statement here is creating a panic amongst the people by fear mongering and over inflating the real numbers that are laboratory confirmed. Even President Obama does not want to create a panic amongst the citizens. I guess the Washington Post did not get that memo. That is my opinion.

Unlike seasonal flu, which typically strikes the elderly most severely, the new strain disproportionately attacks children and young adults. In New York City, of the 47 deaths that occurred through yesterday, 44 were people younger than 65. That trend, however, will pose unusual challenges to the American medical system, as many teenagers and young adults rarely visit doctors or clinics. …

My opinion on this statement is that because of the number of vaccinations that our children and young adults are now receiving their immune systems are compromised and are unable to fight off this flu. This is just another reason to cut back on the amount of vaccines administered to the 1980 schedule.

Why elderly people appear to be largely escaping this flu outbreak is unknown. There is some evidence that older adults may be at least partially immune to this H1N1 strain because of exposure to a distantly related strain earlier in life. …

This statement here is a no brainer. It just proves that previous exposure to viruses naturally will give you long lasting immunity. If we endeavor to implement a safe method of vaccination that uses the natural immune system of the body then we will have the same immunity as the older adults mentioned have against disease.

Before any vaccine is given to the public, however, it must be proved safe and effective and the proper dose must be determined in tests this summer. People will probably need to get two doses at least several weeks apart to be protected.

Considering that this virus has already mutated. This makes any vaccine presently in trials ineffective.

New swine flu fears: Drug-resistant strain of H1N1 mutation discovered

Reuters, Thursday, July 2nd 2009, 4:47 PM

TOKYO — Japan has confirmed its first case of a genetic mutation of the new H1N1 flu virus that shows resistance to Tamiflu, the main antiviral flu drug, a health ministry official said on Thursday.

But they said the mutated virus does not appear to be spreading and they see no immediate threat to public health.

They found the drug-resistant virus in a patient who was given Tamiflu to prevent infection but who developed symptoms anyway, the health ministry’s Takeshi Enami said.

As of now, we have decided that this does not have a great impact in terms of public health,” Enami said.

Japan has 1,266 reported cases of swine flu, but has so no reported fatalities.

To close this article I am going to quote my article about the pandemic flu dated June 16th, What is the definition of a pandemic?

http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/update.htm

“I went back to the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) website and found this interesting information about this pandemic flu.”
Background

Since the outbreak was first detected, an increasing number of U.S. states have reported cases of novel H1N1 influenza with associated hospitalizations and deaths. By June 3, 2009, all 50 states in the United States and the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico were reporting cases of novel H1N1 infection. While nationwide U.S. influenza surveillance systems indicate that overall influenza activity is decreasing in the country at this time, novel H1N1 outbreaks are ongoing in parts of the U.S., in some cases with intense activity.

Shared Responsibility

Individuals have an important role in protecting themselves and their families.

  • Stay informed. Health officials will provide additional information as it becomes available.
  • Everyone should take these everyday steps to protect your health and lessen the spread of this new virus:
    • Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
    • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
    • Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
    • Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
    • If you are sick with a flu-like illness, stay home for 7 days after your symptoms begin or until you have been symptom-free for 24 hours, whichever is longer. This is to keep from infecting others and spreading the virus further.
    • Follow public health advice regarding school closures, avoiding crowds and other social distancing measures.

“With so many being affected in the United States why is our government not recommending that we wear facemasks like they did in Mexico. I know in Japan I always see pictures of people wearing them. Would that not hinder the spread of this virus worldwide?”

“The simple solution to all this pandemic talk is to take positive preventive actions like the ones listed above but go one step further. Add more fruits and green vegetables to your diet. Take a quality supplement with additional vitamin C and D. Get out into the sun because the natural vitamin D we receive will boost our immune system naturally. Wear facemasks because they will help in regards to preventing you from breathing in the droplets when someone sneezes. Let us make the masks more of a fashion statement with patterns and colors to match every occasion. Boy, I wish I had money. I could make a fortune on this idea.”

“The bottom line is that we need to take positive actions that will create a positive solution to this pandemic. The solutions are simple and are already outlined. They are also inexpensive with little or no cost to our already overburdened health care systems.”

“We at the International Coalition of Advocates for the People do not believe that there are any problems, just positive solutions.”

If you would like to be part of the positive solution please visit the organization’s website today. We can make positive change happen together.
