Gardasil is a cervical cancer vaccine that’s injected beneath the
upper layer of the skin. Cervical cancer is commonly caused by a virus
called the human papillomavirus (HPV). Gardasil protects girls and
women ages 9 to 26 against four different types of HPV, according to
the Gardasil website–two types of HPV responsible for causing 70
percent of the cases of cervical cancer, and two types of HPV that are
responsible for causing 90 percent of the cases of genital warts. Gardasil vaccination may cause complications in some females.

Injection Site Reaction

After
getting an injection of Gardasil in your arm, you may develop a skin
reaction at the site of injection. Complications from the Gardasil
vaccine injection include swelling, itching, redness, pain or bruising
at the injection site. These reactions typically resolve within a few
days following vaccination.

Flu-Like Symptoms

During
clinical trials, approximately 93 percent of women who got the Gardasil
vaccination reported experiencing complications that included flu-like
symptoms, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
(CDC). Following vaccination, you may experience flu-like complications
such as fever, nausea, vomiting, headache or dizziness. Fainting is
common in adolescent females after getting the Gardasil vaccine, which
may lead to further complications such as injury from falling. Patients
should remain seated for at least 15 minutes after vaccination to
prevent such complications.

Guillain-Barre Syndrome

Rarely,
some females may develop Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) after getting
the Gardasil vaccination. GBS is a a condition in which the immune
system attacks part of the nervous system. Symptoms of GBS include
severe muscle weakness and abnormal sensations throughout the body,
which may last for several weeks. Depending upon the severity of GBS,
certain people may develop complete paralysis. Though there is no cure
for GBS, people with this condition may recover within a few weeks–or
it may take several years.

Blood Clots

Blood
clots within the legs, heart and lung have been rarely reported by some
people following Gardasil vaccination. If blood clots block the flow of
blood within the body, life-threatening complications can occur.

Death

Though
rare, death has been reported in some females following Gardasil
vaccination. There is significant controversy surrounding the
complications of the Gardasil vaccine.

Rhonda Renata is in no doubt about what caused the death of her daughter Jasmine.

The 18-year-old died last September 22 at her family home in Upper Hutt, apparently in her sleep.

It was six months since she had received the last of the three injections of the cervical cancer vaccine Gardasil.

Her grieving mother is still waiting for official answers on what happened to Jasmine but she doubts the medical investigations will provide them.

Her own inquiries have led her to cases overseas which she considers similar to Jasmine’s clutch of symptoms before she died.

In the United States, it has been alleged more than 10 deaths are linked to Gardasil.

Several lawsuits have been filed relating to paralysis of teenage girls, one of whom died.

CSL, which markets Gardasil in New Zealand, said it was unlikely the investigations would find the vaccine caused Jasmine’s death.

The Gardasil vaccine is not a vaccine for protection against cervical cancer as the pharmaceutical company would like you to believe. It is a vaccine intended to prevent 4 types of HPV (Human Papillomavirus). According to the Gardasil package insert, there are more than 100 types of HPV! The American Cancer Institute reports HPV-16 (one of the strains the vaccine is intended to protect against) is found in approximately 50% of cervical cancer cases connected to HPV. Merck, the vaccine manufacturer, states approximately 70% of cases are connected to 2 of the 4 types of HPV the vaccine is intended to prevent.

In 90% of HPV cases, the virus is asymptomatic, will not cause disease, and goes away without treatment. Thus other factors are necessary to trigger precancerous lesions and/or cervical cancer. As an adult, if you have already been exposed to those types of HPV, which approximately 50% of people have, the vaccine is virtually useless. Thus the reason they are targeting young girls.

I am speaking to you today about my concerns with the Gardasil vaccine. I have been researching this vaccine since January, when I determined that my daughter developed several illnesses post-Gardasil. Prior to Gardasil, my daughter was a healthy, energetic young lady. She played softball and was on the University crew team. After her second shot, she contracted a severe case of pneumonia. That was the beginning of a series of illnesses that predicated her most recent hospital visit on August 22nd. Among her illnesses – pneumonia, dehydration, migraines, hair loss, hormone issues – and that’s not all of them. She would cry on the phone to me because she was so exhausted she couldn’t stay awake long enough to get her homework completed. She would cry because she was afraid she would lose her scholarship.

What I have found over the past several months of exploring Gardasil side effects is that my daughter and many other girls are exhibiting side effects which are consistent with vitamin B deficiency. I have read several papers about PKD (Pyruvate Kinase Deficiency), which is part of a group of hereditary anemia disorders – hemolytic anemia. This deficiency, as I understand it, would cause ones red blood cells to function improperly and, therefore, affect the energy production of any new red blood cells, thus affecting several organs and tissues throughout the body.

I’m sure most of you are familiar with the purpose of adjuvants in a vaccine. It is to lower the immunity long enough so that the body fights back to resist the virus presented in the vaccine, thus developing antibodies. If, however, the person receiving the vaccination has PKD, then the body would be further compromised by vaccine adjuvants which cause oxidative stress and the person receiving the vaccine would exhibit debilitating side effects (which is what has happened with many Gardasil girls).

Unfortunately, families that have a history of PKD are usually unaware as doctors do NOT regularly test for this, even though as much as 10% (perhaps more) of our population has it. This testing should be mandatory prior to any doctor giving any vaccinations. Unfortunately, this test was never done of my daughter and I still do not know if she had this hereditary trait. Instead, doctors roll their eyes at my daughter when she even suggests that Gardasil might be the cause of her health issues.

I do know that one of the outward signs of hemolytic anemia is jaundice, which my daughter had last December when she was sent to the ER for dehydration. I drove nine hours to pick her up since she was unable to travel and I was shocked to see how yellow her eyes were (my mother died of liver cancer so I am well aware of the “look” of liver failure). It terrified me.

I personally have received e-mails from many families who have severely ill daughters after Gardasil. Most of the girls were honor roll students and active athletes. I have read that strenuous activity severely depletes niacin levels (NAD – also a B vitamin). If this is the case, then the very active/athletic girls would not be able to produce new red blood cells to keep them healthy. This is also true for those who consume excessive amounts of alcohol (many college students). Higher amounts of fluoride also impair niacin production. (http://bloodjournal.hematologylibrary.org/cgi/reprint/69/4/999) All of this, added to the fact that these girls’ bodies are already overly taxed from the vaccine, combined with their genetic PKD deficiency …well … You can surely understand that this could be a recipe for disaster.

Without sufficient niacin (NAD), any individual would see interference in many physiological activities … symptoms such as brain fog, hormonal changes, fatigue, depression, seizures … and the list goes on. And if a person is vitamin B deficient, then it would also be possible that other vitamin production might be jeopardized since so many of the B vitamins are co-dependent. (Perhaps this is the reason why the girls are experiencing hair loss … a biotinadase deficiency?)

Something that is less critical, but no less unimportant, is a fact that has been touched on by several reporters and medical persons. The Gardasil test trials showed side effects of placebo vs. vaccine. However, this is not really a true determination of side effects since the placebo in Merck’s study used aluminum as the adjuvant (rather than saline). One would not see significant differences between the two groups because both aluminum hydroxide and aluminum phosphate have, in the past, shown a causal relationship to multiple neurological issues. Honestly, the side effects of BOTH groups should have been added together rather than shown as separate entities. (cite “The truth behind the vaccine cover-up” by Russell L. Blaylock, MD, attached, page 1720.) ALL vaccines should be required to use a TRUE placebo – a saline solution – rather than any type of solution Pharma thinks it can get away with.

And what about Polysorbate 80? We know that it has been known to cause fertility issues in mice. It has also been cited in a WIPO paper on impairing fertility in cats and dogs. While the VAERS data suggests that both lots U and X are severely problematic, these lots numbers have yet to be recalled by Merck. Surely something is amiss in these lots … extra yeast perhaps?

The VAERS system has to be updated if doctors continue to give vaccines without testing for genetic traits prior to vaccination. This is IMPERATIVE! And doctors have to be educated on the VAERS system and how to use it and be required to file reports.

When we realize that not even Merck knows the efficacy of their own vaccines and has estimated that children may have to be re-vaccinated every five years, does it honestly make sense that we would want to re-inject millions of children with both aluminum and polysorbate 80 every few years when we know both these ingredients are dangerous? Common sense would tell you that it is not. It would especially not make sense if there was no pre-screening for certain genetic traits that would make this exponentially more dangerous for so many.

Parents and doctors need to be educated as to the dangers and complications of vaccines. There are risks and rewards but these are not always revealed. “Pain at injection site” is not sufficient information for parents to make informed choices for their children. Parents shouldn’t have to find out “after the fact” that their children could get other, more severe side effects.

My daughter is slowly recovering from this vaccine. She’s on a gluten-free/sugar-free/dairy-free diet with vitamin supplements (vitamin B complex, vitamin D, vitamin C, and niacin). I don’t know if she will ever fully recover from Gardasil.

Please … don’t let other families go through what I have. It has nearly ruined my family and I can hardly live with myself and my decision to have my daughter vaccinated.

The author of this paper is none other than a pharmaceutical company. Why would people still have these sorts of issues today if they know that nicotinic acid can cure what ails them? I would suggest that it is because these companies are in the business of making money. If they cure these issues, then “new” medications would not be the billion dollar money-makers that they are today. Pharmaceutical companies are in the business of selling medicine – and lots of it!

When I contacted Theresa I asked her if she was in the premenstrual phase of her cycle when she received the vaccine.  This is her response:

“You are right! My cycle always began around the 1st before my 1st shot, which was given on 4/28/08. After having my IUD removed (Oct. 08) it has been around the 15th, (and the 2nd shot)…. was given to me 1/8/09.”

Please if you are considering getting this vaccine do not do so during the premenstrual phase of your cycle. – L.

Hello, this is my first time posting. I am a 22 year old girl with a 2 year old son and in a monogamous relationship. I questioned my obgyn when he wanted to give me the shot, but he assured me everything was fine and it was protecting me against CANCER!! Since I got the first Gardasil shot in 2008, I have not been the same person.

First off, I lost 30 lbs for no reason. I contributed it to stress from my job and my 1 year old son. The pain started in my abdomen just weeks later. Then my anxiety was out of control, and I never had problems with it before, to the point where I needed to see a therapist and was even put on anti-anxiety/depression medication, till I read that “abdominal pain” was a side effect!! 2 months after I had the 1st shot, I ended up in the hospital because I thought I was having a heart attack (my dad had a heart attack at 19). My chest was painful and tight, I had numbness in my left arm, I was bloated and nauseous, pain and weakness in my legs, severe headache, I felt it all. The did x-rays on my chest and an EKG and everything came back normal. They had no explanation for what I felt, and they kept asking me if i was “no drugs” which I could not believe, I was with my grandmother!! So apparently I had a panic attack, which had never happened to me before gardasil!!

My period started to become completely irregular and I was having pain during intercourse, this led me to have my IUD removed in October 2008 (I had the paragard for over a year without any complications or pain).

In December 2008 the abdominal and pelvic pains continued. I saw my doctor and they performed an ultrasound and found nothing. They offered me painkillers but I declined.

In the beginning of January 2009 I had my physical and I brought everything up to my PCP. She ordered some tests and told me to start taking Prilosec if everything came back normal. The tests were normal, but I never took Prilosec cause I knew I did not have acid reflux. Oh yeah, I at this appointment, I was due for my tetanus shot AND my SECOND Gardasil, and I didnt decline that, thinking I needed to keep up with the “Three is Key” GRRRRRR!

Almost immediately after the shot, the pains in my “pelvic region” were severe, less than 2 weeks later, I saw my OBGYN for pains and he told me that they were NORMAL for girls my age! Really? Nothing, no explanation, he just told me I was normal.

At my appointment for my 3rd shot, I asked to see my doctor as well to talk about the pain/weakness, headaches, numbness, muscle spasms that I had been feeling in the past 4 months. He said I didn’t seem “bad enough” to start treating anything??? WTF?? Then the nurse came in with the Gardasil and talked to me about how I was feeling. She said that it would not be the best idea to give me the 3rd shot based on my symptoms. That is when the lightbulb went off that Gardasil caused these problems!!! I went back and could make a timeline to just 1 week after my 1st shot when the pain started. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO THAT NURSE!

Just recently I went to the doctor because my neck has been stiff and painful and I have had headaches everyday. I was still feeling pain in my abdomen and pelvic area. Along with weakness/numbess in my arms/legs. I told her right off the bat i thought it was from Gardasil, even showed her the time line I wrote out. She made me seem like I was crazy!!! Then told me that if the abdominal pains continued, to come back and we will do a CT Scan, of course I freaked out cause they had already been going on for OVER A YEAR!!!

She ordered a CT Scan of my head, neck, and abdomen, and also an x-ray of my neck.

They found a “growth” in my bowels and I am having a colonoscopy this Monday to find out what it is.

The x-ray also showed that my spine is “straightening” – which is consistent with people who have severe muscle spasms. So they filled me some flexeril and said we will talk again when my doctor is back from vacation in 2 weeks.

Well, I’m not waiting for her, I’m making an appointment with the doctors in Boston.

Once I get to the bottom and have a true diagnosis, i will be reporting everything to everywhere!!!

I am also looking to seek legal action for the co-pays, x-rays, ct-scans, and work I have missed due to this.

Anyone else experienced anything similar to me? I will post again after the colonoscopy.

• Australia was one of the first countries to roll out a national cervical cancer immunisation campaign using Gardasil. Gardasil is a vaccine that protects young women from the strains of human papillomavirus (HPV) that cause 70% of cervical cancers.
• Vaccination with Gardasil is most effective when given to females before they are likely to be exposed to HPV. Four out of five people will be exposed to HPV during their lifetime and exposure to HPV from a single lifetime partner can still be enough to result in an infection that can lead to cervical cancer. Over 700 new cases of cervical cancer are reported each year in Australia, and in 2005 cervical cancer led to the deaths of 216 women.
• To date approximately 4.7 million doses of Gardasil have been distributed in Australia. The overall number of suspected adverse events reported following Gardasil administration is very low, and consistent with other new vaccines and adverse event rates reported in other countries. Worldwide, over 43.8 million doses have been distributed. With this number of people receiving the vaccine, even if all are healthy and young, some serious events can be expected within days or hours of vaccination by chance alone and unrelated to vaccination.
• No vaccine is completely without side-effects, and so adverse events following immunisation are carefully monitored in Australia and regularly reviewed by expert advisory groups. A significant volume of reporting of adverse events is often seen shortly after the introduction of a new, widely-used vaccine because of the higher degree of vigilance and lack of familiarity with the new product. Many of the reported events (such as headache, feeling dizzy or unwell) may be equally common in people of the same age who have not received the vaccine.
• As at 1 April 2009 a total of 1,304 suspected adverse reactions had been reported in Australia following vaccination with Gardasil. The great majority have been mild and common problems such as soreness, swelling, or redness at the injection site. Most of the adverse reactions that have been reported are well recognised and listed in the Gardasil Product Information. Common adverse events reported to date are listed below:

• ‘Psychogenic’ events comprise approximately 20% of all adverse reaction reports for Gardasil. These events include dizziness, fainting and panic attacks, which are well recognised reactions associated with administration of vaccines or other injection procedures in general.
• An important category of possible reactions to any vaccine is allergy. Severe allergic reactions, such as anaphylaxis, may require adrenaline injections or other treatment, which is the reason why all persons providing vaccines must have the necessary drugs and equipment available. As at 1 April 2009, there had been 13 reports of anaphylaxis and 115 reports of urticarial reactions (hives) in Australia following Gardasil injection. All cases reported to the TGA to date have either been treated appropriately or have resolved without treatment. The current estimated rate of anaphylaxis based on doses distributed in Australia is 2.8 cases per million doses. The rates for other vaccines given to children and adolescents range from 0 to 3.5 per million doses in international studies.¹
• All reports of suspected anaphylaxis following HPV vaccination have been assessed by the Adverse Drug Reactions Advisory Committee (ADRAC) using the Brighton Collaboration definition, a relatively new set of criteria for defining anaphylaxis.² Anaphylaxis is a rare event but healthcare professionals and patients should be aware of its possible occurrence. The occurrence of anaphylaxis and allergic reactions is not predictable and can occur in anyone regardless of whether they have a previous history of allergy or not. The rare occurrence of allergic reactions with Gardasil does not change any recommendations regarding the vaccine, but it is important that such reactions are reported promptly by the treating doctor to the relevant State or Territory Health Department or directly to the TGA, as set out in the Immunisation Handbook.
• The TGA is also aware of a small number of cases in which neurological symptoms, similar to those experienced in patients with a demyelinating disorder such as multiple sclerosis, have been reported shortly after HPV vaccination. In some of these cases symptoms were present prior to the vaccination. These reports have been actively investigated by an independent panel of clinical and scientific experts in immunology, neurology, epidemiology and paediatrics. Based on the available reported cases, the incidence of demyelinating disorders amongst recipients of Gardasil is not demonstrably higher than would be expected to occur by chance.
• No deaths occurring after Gardasil have been reported in Australia and no deaths directly linked to the vaccine have been reported in the USA or Europe.
• In Australia, all adverse events reported following Gardasil vaccination are reviewed by an expert committee, ADRAC, which advises the TGA. Every six months, detailed reports of adverse events are published in Communicable Diseases Intelligence, a quarterly publication of the Department of Health and Ageing.
• In addition to assessing Australian adverse event data, the TGA continues to evaluate all available safety information on Gardasil, including analyses from the United States Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System and studies from the Vaccine Safety Datalink project. Worldwide reports of rare adverse events such as pancreatitis and neurological adverse events will continue to be monitored closely. Through ongoing contact with overseas regulatory agencies the TGA will continue to monitor the occurrence of any serious events related to the use of Gardasil anywhere in the world.
• In addition to the TGA, both the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the European Medicines Agency (EMEA) have assessed Gardasil as safe and effective.

The total number of Gardasil-related deaths is 47 since the vaccine was approved in 2006. Overall, the FDA documented 6,723 “adverse events” related to Gardasil in 2008, of which 1,061 were considered “serious,” and 142 considered “life threatening.”

The following are several “adverse events” documented by the FDA’s Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS):

--  "15 months from the completion of the GARDASIL HPV vaccination, I had
    full blown cervical cancer.  My oncologist would like to do a hysterectomy
    at this time, but [as I have] always wanted children, I have chosen to
    wait... I have two of the [strains] that the shot is suppose to prevent...
    I now have cervical cancer and I am left wondering what role the GARDASIL
    HPV vaccination played in the hasty onset."  (ID: 319836)

--  "After receiving her second dose of GARDASIL... she could crawl but...
    needed to use crutches or a wheel chair... She was experienced problems
    breathing and had 'super migraines' that never went away... She had
    swelling in her face, jaw and wrists.  The patient was diagnosed with
    GUILLAIN-BARRE syndrome, myelin sheath degeneration and peripheral
    neuropathy.  Patient was hospitalized twice... patient has not recovered

--  A 19-year-old girl with no medical history immediately experienced
    side effects after receiving the Gardasil vaccine.  Within eleven days her
    symptoms included "Aggression, Arthralgia, Complex partial seizures,
    Confusional state, Convulsion, Crying, Dizziness, Epilepsy, Fatigue,
    Feeling abnormal, Grand mal convulsion, Immediate post-injection reaction,
    Irritability, Myalgia, Nausea, Pain, Postictal state, Somnolence, Syncope,
    Tremor, and Unresponsive to stimuli."  (ID: 320598)

--  "Two weeks after the third dose, the patient developed a complication.
    She was taken to the hospital by ambulance but passed away during the
    transport from an unknown cause...Upon arrival in ER unresponsive, pupils
    fixed and dilated, no cardiac activity.  Resuscitation unsuccessful and

The FDA VAERS reports show that since last June, 235 cases detailed permanent disability. There were also 29 new cases of Guillain-Barre Syndrome, and 147 cases of “spontaneous abortions,” or miscarriages, when the vaccine was given to pregnant women.

Moreover, 62 girls developed warts after receiving the vaccine. This development is of particular concern because Gardasil, which is designed to prevent two strains of genital warts, is not supposed to react with other HPV strains. However, not only did previously healthy women experience genital warts after the vaccination, but 21 girls developed warts on other areas, most commonly the face, hands and feet, and in one case, “all over her body.” (ID: 330671)

Of the 47 reported deaths, 41 occurred within a month of receiving the vaccine and of those deaths, 17 were within two weeks of receiving the vaccine. In most of the deaths the cause is still unknown.

“The FDA is supposed to be a guardian of public health, and yet the agency continues to turn a blind eye to what seems to be an extremely serious public health problem. The public relations push for Gardasil by Merck, politicians and public health officials needs to pause so that these adverse reactions can be further studied,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “The already serious problems associated with Gardasil seem to be getting worse. No one should require this vaccine for young children.”

Gardasil, the vaccine given to girls and women to prevent cervical cancer, may cause an increased risk of a rare but severe nervous system disorder within weeks of getting the shot, new research finds.

In the two to six weeks after receiving an injection of Gardasil, females are more likely to contract Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS), a potentially deadly condition in which the body’s immune system attacks the nervous system, said researchers from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Newark.

Generally, an infection such as influenza or another illness triggers GBS, but in some cases, the disorder may be activated by vaccinations, such as Gardasil, or by surgery, officials said. Symptoms of GBS can include weakness, paralysis, balance problems, and numbness and tingling of the limbs.

However, the risk of developing GBS from Gardasil is rare. Only 26 women out of 10 million who receive the shot will develop GBS in the first two weeks after treatment, while just 30 out of 10 million will do so after six weeks, researchers said. By comparison, about five in 10 million people in the general population will develop GBS.

So, while the research found that women who receive Gardasil are up to six times more likely to contract GBS than people in the general population within six weeks of the treatment, the overall risk remains very low. It also remains unclear exactly why Gardasil vaccine appears to increase the odds of developing GBS, researchers said.

The research findings were presented at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Neurology.

Controversy Over Gardasil

Gardasil has been the subject of controversy since 2006, when it was approved for use in the United States. In January 2007, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention added Gardasil to its list of recommended childhood immunizations. The vaccine was recommended for all girls aged 11-12 and even for girls as young as 9, with catch-up doses for girls and women 13-26 who hadn’t been vaccinated earlier. Some critics have said that giving the vaccine to girls as young as nine suggests that the girls are sexually active and is not appropriate.
