A survey carried out through Yours.co.uk in association with Phyto Soya UK has revealed that 80% of menopausal women in the UK are not being offered alternatives to HRT. Frankly, I’m surprised that 20% are being offered alternatives.
The endometrium undergoes cyclic changes. During the follicular phase, under the influence of estrogen, it proliferates, whereas after ovulation, under the influence of progesterone, the endometrium undergoes secretory changes. If pregnancy does not occur at the end of the cycle, once the support of the corpus luteum subsides, menstruation follows and a new cycle begins. If this cyclic function is disrupted, abnormal changes in the endometrium may follow. When the endometrium is exposed to unopposed estrogen, it continues to proliferate, and hyperplasia with cellular atypia may develop. If left untreated, this condition may give rise to endometrial cancer.

Changes to an enzyme in the brains of women immediately having a baby may explain postpartum depression, a new study shows. The work, conducted by researchers at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health in Toronto, Canada, were published in the Archives of General Psychiatry and presented by the Max Planck Society.

British women suffer the effects of the menopause more severely than those in other countries around the world due to stress, a new study suggests.

They were more likely to say they experienced a range of symptoms than those in America, Canada, China and Japan.
The researchers behind the findings say that stress could be one of the key factors exacerbating the condition in British women.
