A few weeks ago I uncovered the appalling story of how parents in India were prevented from speaking out when their baby daughter died following the pentavalent vaccine. (1) Ancy, was just 56 days old, when she died within hours of the vaccine, however, her death was immediately swept under the carpet by the authorities who silenced her parents before claiming that Ancy had died from apnea.

On 25^th January 2012 IBN Live (2) reported that even though the Health Department had denied the possible connection between the administration of the pentavalent vaccine and the death of the baby, the postmortem report had revealed that her death was caused by a hypersensitivity reaction.

This unusual and highly controversial move by the coroner to write that a hypersensitivity reaction was the cause of death in his report appears to confirm the parent’s belief that Ancy died as a result of the vaccine, although IBN Live continued their report by adding that:

“The postmortem certificate leaves a loophole with regard to hypersensitivity, the report being unspecific on hypersensitivity to what source. While in general usage by scientists and doctors, the term hypersensitivity refers to a very unusual allergic reaction to a vaccine. Health Secretary Rajeev Sadanandan said further studies were needed to conclusively prove as to whether it was the vaccine that triggered the allergy.”

I doubt if the coroner could safely be any more specific and given the age of the child it is highly probable that she did die as a result of the vaccination.

The pentavelent vaccine is a 5 in 1 vaccine. This means that the vaccine protects a person from five individual diseases but instead of receiving five separate vaccines the person, in this case a baby, receives only one. In Ancy’s case we know that she received a vaccine containing diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, hepatitis B, Hib or meningitis.

Vaccines are made up of several different substances. To enable me to explain this in more detail I will begin by quoting Dr Viera Scheibner. (3) Dr Scheibner says that:

Vaccines contain a number of substances which can be divided into the following groups:

1. Micro-organisms, either bacteria or viruses, thought to be causing certain infectious diseases and which the vaccine is supposed to prevent. These are whole-cell proteins or just the broken-cell protein envelopes, and are called antigens.

2. Chemical substances which are supposed to enhance the immune response to the vaccine, called adjuvants.

3. Chemical substances which act as preservatives and tissue fixatives, which are supposed to halt any further chemical reactions and putrefaction (decomposition or multiplication) of the live or attenuated (or killed) biological constituents of the vaccine.

A Parents Basic Guide To Synergistic Toxicity

When a baby receives a vaccine the desired immune response is the production of antibodies. Dr Scheibner says that this is enhanced by adding certain substances to the vaccines. These substances as she explains are called adjuvants. She says:

There are several types of adjuvants. Today the most common adjuvants for human use are aluminium hydroxide, aluminium phosphate and calcium phosphate. However, there are a number of other adjuvants based on oil emulsions, products from bacteria (their synthetic derivatives as well as liposomes) or gram-negative bacteria, endotoxins, cholesterol, fatty acids, aliphatic amines, paraffinic and vegetable oils. Recently, monophosphoryl lipid A, ISCOMs with Quil-A, and Syntex adjuvant formulations (SAFs) containing the threonyl derivative or muramyl dipeptide have been under consideration for use in human vaccines.

Many professionals believe that it is a combination of these aduvants mixed together that are affecting children so adversely. This is known as synergistic toxicity and can worsen when a child receives multiple vaccines.

Drug research, even from clinical trials sponsored by the federal government, routinely is suppressed, harming patients and increasing health care costs, according to new data highlighting an ethical controversy that continues to plague the field of medicine.

“The current situation is a disservice to research participants, patients, health systems and the whole endeavor of clinical medicine,” according to an editorial accompanying the papers published in the British Medical Journal.

Turning up the heat, the journal, in an editorial, posed a remedy that is likely to get the attention of doctors who take part in clinical trial research.

“Concealment of data should be regarded as the serious ethical breach that it is, and clinical researchers who fail to disclose data should be subject to disciplinary action by professional organizations,” wrote Richard Lehman of the University of Oxford, and Elizabeth Loder, a BMJ editor.

The BMJ papers are the latest thunderbolts in a gathering storm that has swirled around medicine in recent years. The revelations add to the calls for reform in the field.

“It is grossly unethical and an insult to the integrity of medicine when this is allowed to occur and go unpunished,” said orthopedic surgeon Chuck Rosen, president of the Association for Medical Ethics.

From diabetes drugs to spine surgery products, scandals involving concealed data have mounted. Consider the cases of two heart drugs that were the subject of Journal Sentinel stories:

• For two years, Schering-Plough, the maker of the popular cholesterol drug Vytorin, sat on the results of a clinical trial showing the drug provided no benefit in improving artery health. During that time the drug was heavily marketed to consumers in TV ads. The situation came to light in 2008 after a congressional investigation was launched.
• In 2003, a clinical trial of Multaq, a drug that treated irregular heartbeat, was stopped because more patients who were getting the drug were dying than those who were getting a placebo. However, the study was not published until five years later.

In 2007, an independent analysis of the diabetes drug Avandia found that the drug increased heart attacks and cardiovascular deaths.

WEDNESDAY, Jan. 4 (HealthDay News) — Nearly one in four girls who gets the human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine mistakenly thinks that her risk of getting other sexually transmitted diseases is lowered, a new study indicates.

HPV is the most commonly transmitted sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the United States, with nearly 30 percent of sexually active girls aged 14 to 19 infected. Some virus types can raise the risk for genital warts and cervical cancer.

“I think it’s important to counsel [girls] about what the vaccine protects against,” said lead researcher Dr. Tanya Kowalczyk Mullins, an assistant professor of pediatrics at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

The findings were reported in the January issue of the Archives of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine.

Two HPV vaccines are now licensed in the United States. One, Gardasil, protects against two HPV strains linked with genital warts and two HPV types linked with cervical cancer. Another vaccine, Cervarix, induces immunity to the two HPV types linked with cervical cancer.

The HPV vaccine is recommended by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for boys and girls aged 11 to 12, with catch-up immunizations recommended to the age of 26 for women and 21 for men.

In the study, Mullins polled 339 girls, average age nearly 17, after their first of three HPV doses, and their mothers. Nearly 60 percent of the girls were sexually experienced.

Mullins wanted to know the girls’ perceived risk of getting HPV after the vaccination, their perceived risk of getting other STIs and their perceived need for continued safer sex behaviors.

“Most girls correctly thought the vaccine does not protect them against STIs other than HPV,” Mullins said.

Over the course of the past few years, we have been gathering studies from the US National Library of Medicine on the adverse, unintended health effects of vaccination, in an attempt to offset the one-sided propaganda foisted upon the public, namely, that all vaccines are unequivocally “safe” and “effective,” a priori.

Along the way, we happened upon a 2010 study published in the Journal of Pediatric Infections & Diseases which has been shared more than any other article on our database, and which suggests that breastfeeding should be delayed in order to prevent immune factors within breast milk from inactivating vaccine-associated antibody titer elevations and “vaccine potency.” The concluded the study with the following statement:

It is not difficult to comprehend what caused the flurry of interest in this study. Readers were a the obviously disturbed by the suggestion that women in the underdeveloped world temporarily stop breast feeding (often the only source of infant nutrition) in order to increase the vaccine’s purported “efficacy.”  Are we to assume that these breast milk deprived infants should consume formula* in the interim?  And to what end? So that the vaccine can generate a temporary spike in antibody production, which is no measure of real-world effectiveness?

*Note: Infant formula has been linked to 48 adverse effects, including increased mortality.

Unless Drug Industry Focuses on Tumors That are Difficult to Treat

University of Michigan study indicates vaccine development efforts currently focus on incidence rather than mortality rates.

Drug companies currently developing therapeutic cancer vaccines may be determining the cancers they target based on the number of annual cases, not the number of deaths they cause.

This approach may limit the patient benefits of such drugs, according to a new University of Michigan report.

The intro to this University of Michigan research report stopped me mid scan.  The report was compiled by  Matthew Davis, M.D., M.A.P.P. and  Elias Dayoub, a second year Medical student  and was funded by the University of Michigan Health System, Ann Arbor, Michigan.

For many of us who opposed Merck’s HPV vaccine, Gardasil, the numbers just never added up. Less than 4,000 women die annually from cervical cancer. Most of those fatalities could be tied to lack of access to a simple and inexpensive PAP test that would have detected the cancerous cells in time for a simple eradication procedure.  Although most women are exposed to HPV during their lives, as long as they have a healthy immune system, they will self resolve in 18-months or less. The multi-billion dollar war against cervical caner just did not make economic sense. The battle had been won decades earlier with access to the PAP test.

This report, helps give those of us who study Big Pharma, some insight into their current decision processes.   

Therapeutic vaccines, an alternative form of cancer treatment that may be more effective than traditional cancer therapies, are currently being tested in clinical trials around the world.
Early studies on these vaccines, which trigger patients’ immune systems to attack cancer cells, have shown they may offer new hope for those suffering from difficult-to-treat cancers.
“In 2011, there were about 230 clinical trials for therapeutic vaccines targeting 13 different types of cancer,” says Matthew Davis, M.D., M.A.P.P., associate professor of pediatrics, internal medicine, and public policy at the University of Michigan Health System and Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy.
“If a cancer is more commonly diagnosed in the United States, it is significantly more likely to have therapeutic vaccines in clinical trials,” Davis adds. “Focusing on annual incidence is a very common approach by drug companies in developing new therapies.”
Therapeutic vaccine development should focus on cancers with higher mortality rates, creating more potential to improve patient outcomes, Davis suggests.

“The lack of a connection between therapeutic cancer vaccine development and cancer deaths means that vaccine development in this arena today may not best serve the needs of cancer patients tomorrow,” Davis says.

“As a primary care doctor, I would like to see innovations with therapeutic vaccines that target cancers where our current therapies are less effective than average.”
Davis and co-author Elias Dayoub, a second-year medical student, emphasize that lung cancer and pancreatic cancer are two tumor types where the five-year survival is lower than average and the number of patients newly diagnosed each year is higher than average.

“Fortunately for patients, there are already some late-stage clinical trials in progress for patients with cancers of the lung and pancreas,” Davis says. “Based on the typical time course for trials and licensure, if these vaccines are safe and effective, we may able to use them to help patients as early as 2020 and perhaps earlier.”

The cancers with the highest number of active clinical trials in 2011 are melanoma (40), breast (34), lung (30), prostate (22), and brain (20).
The five cancers with the highest five-year mortality (estimated by the authors, based on current U.S. data) are lung (186,000), pancreas (40,000), colon (35,000), breast (21,000) and liver and bile duct (21,000), for a total of 303,000 deaths. There are currently 90 therapeutic vaccines in development against these 5 types of cancer.

In contrast, the five cancers with the most active development (146 vaccines in aggregate) target cancers with a lower five-year mortality of approximately 226,000. “This mismatch is unfortunate for patients,” says Davis. “Cancers with higher mortality currently have fewer vaccines in development. For therapeutic vaccines to make the biggest difference in cancer care, development must focus more on high-mortality tumors.”
