* 54 percent vaccinated against meningitis

* 27 percent of girls fully protected against HPV

More U.S. teens are getting recommended vaccines against certain cancers, meningitis and infectious diseases, government researchers reported on Thursday.

More than 40 percent of girls have received at least one dose of the new vaccine that protects against a virus that causes cervical and other cancers, according to the report from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

More than half have received a booster shot that protects against tetanus, whooping cough and diphtheria, the survey of 20,000 teens aged 13 to 17 said.

“We can see that more parents of adolescents are electing to protect their children from serious diseases such as pertussis (whooping cough), meningitis, and cervical cancer but there is clear room for improvement in our system’s ability to reach this age group,” the CDC’s Dr. Anne Schuchat said.

What do peanuts and vaccines have in common? Well, you’re probably thinking that some people have allergic reactions to both, and you are correct. Peanuts cause the most common severe food allergy reactions. Vaccines, on the other hand, that are grown on chicken eggs (MMR and influenza vaccines in particular) cause allergic reactions for which pharmaceutical and vaccine makers willingly provide cautionary notices on vaccine package inserts. It’s important to note that technically there can be two responses: a reaction, e.g., immediate allergic response (anaphylaxis), and a side effect, e.g., fever, rash, or localized swelling later on.

A team of researchers from Middlesex University have developed a vaccine approach which could be the first of a whole new generation of cancer drugs with the potential to target specific cancers at source. This technique could lead to far quicker treatment of aggressive cancers, with patients experiencing fewer of the side-effects which chemotherapy often causes.

World expert in biomedical science, Professor Ray Iles, and colleagues at Middlesex University’s Centre for Investigative and Diagnostic Oncology, are currently working with US pharmaceutical company, Celldex Therapeutics, to test the vaccine in clinical trials involving patients who have recently been diagnosed with bladder cancer. Initial results suggest that the lives and prognoses for thousands of cancer sufferers may improve radically and it is thought that the technique could ultimately delay the onset of certain types of cancer.

Bladder cancer affects four times as many men as women, with 10,000 new cases being diagnosed in the UK each year. It is the fourth most common cancer in men and is the sixth most common cause of cancer death amongst men in the UK. At present, 75% of cases are lethal. The vaccine will be trialled over a five year period, amongst a group of 60 newly-diagnosed patients with the cancer.

For Professor Iles, this is a real highpoint in a twenty-year research career in biomedical science. In 1987 he discovered that certain cancers, including bladder cancer, produce a fragment of the pregnancy hormone hCGβ – known in the science world as ‘HCG’ – which encourages aggressive activity by cancerous cells. Since then, a series of studies have been conducted by Professor Iles and Dr Stephen Butler, another member of the Middlesex team, culminating in the development of the vaccine by Celldex. The vaccine targets and neutralises the cells producing this hormone, before these cells have the chance to attack other, healthy cells.

Mainstream medicine has hit a new low in its war against physicians who have become alternative healers. The battle has been going on for decades, but lately, in bully-like fashion, pharma’s minions are ramping up the vilification. They’re now discrediting any healing method not based in their version of accepted science – excuse me, I meant their religion of pharmaceutical belief which has been misnamed as “science”.

They demand explanation and evidence when we reject their drugs, yet they never serve up true evidence or proof that drugs do more good than harm. They insist with religious fervor that vaccines are safe, effective and keep people healthy. They preach as gospel that antibiotics are better or safer than homeopathy, herbs, colloidal silver, vitamin D and natural support for non-life threatening infections, despite the fact that antibiotic adverse effects are common and well documented. Serious effects such as anaphylaxis (inflammatory shock), kidney failure, liver failure, Stevens-Johnson syndrome (a life threatening condition where the epidermis separates from the dermis), Clostridium difficile colitis (commonly referred to as C-diff), and the creation of drug resistant super-bacteria are but a few examples. And now, they’ve recruited some very bright (but not necessarily wise) minds to attack alternative practitioners. Their latest weapon is name calling – most notably, labeling them “quacks”.

“Quack”, as per the Random House dictionary:

1. A fraudulent or ignorant pretender to medical skill; 2. A person who pretends, professionally or publicly, to skill, knowledge, or qualifications he or she does not possess; a charlatan.

But from its current usage, I’d say they’ve added a new definition:

3. A physician or medical healer who does not profit from creating and maintaining disease, but rather respects the natural tendency of the body to heal itself; one who helps the body eliminate whatever toxins are causing illness, be they environmental, emotional or pharmaceutical; one who uses primarily non-toxic, non-surgical means for routine care, and uses pharmaceutical and surgical medicine as a last resort.

COURT HOUSE – Freeholder Gerald Thornton announced today that the Cape May County Department of Health will be offering low-cost adult and adolescent vaccines under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) program. “The Department of Health will be able to offer four important disease-preventing vaccines (Gardasil, Meningococcal, Tdap, and Pneumococcal) to County residents, regardless of income or insurance status,” said Thornton.

Health Officer Kevin Thomas added, “The federal funding for these vaccines is time-limited, so they will be offered on a first-come, first-served basis by appointment only. The Department has only a limited supply of each vaccine.” There is no charge for the vaccines, but a vaccine administration fee of $15 per patient will be charged.

Residents should call 463-5144 to schedule an appointment.

Available vaccines include:

Gardasil – This vaccine prevents human papillomavirus (HPV), which can lead to cervical and other cancers in women as well as genital warts in men and women. HPV vaccine is important because it can prevent most cases of cervical cancer in females, if it is given before a person is exposed to the virus. This vaccine is routinely recommended for girls 11 or 12 years of age, but can be given as early as 9 years and is recommended for women up to age 26 if they haven’t been previously vaccinated. Males 9 through 26 years of age may get HPV vaccine to prevent genital warts. HPV vaccine is given in a three-dose series.

WEDNESDAY, May 5 (HealthDay News) — In adolescents, co-administration of the Gardasil, Menactra, and Adacel vaccines is not associated with decreased safety, tolerability or immunogenicity of the individual vaccines, according to a study published online May 3 in Pediatrics.

Keith S. Reisinger, M.D., of Primary Physicians Research in Pittsburgh, and colleagues conducted an open-label study, in which 394 boys and 648 girls aged 10 to 17 were randomly assigned to receive concomitant administration of a 0.5-mL dose of Gardasil at day one, month two, and month six and a 0.5-mL dose of Menactra and Adacel on day one, or non-concomitant administration of Gardasil at day one, month two, and month six and Menactra and Adacel at month one.

Compared to non-concomitant administration, the researchers found that concomitant administration of the three vaccines was associated with a non-inferior immune response. For Gardasil, they found that the seroconversion rate was at least 99 percent in both groups. For Menactra and Adacel, they found that concomitant administration was non-inferior to non-concomitant administration. In the non-concomitant group, they observed one serious adverse event of transient muscular weakness that was possibly vaccine-related.

“Overall, concomitant administration was generally well tolerated and did not interfere with the immune response to the respective vaccines,” the authors conclude. “Concomitant administration should minimize the number of visits required to deliver each vaccine individually, leading to increased compliance and more effective disease prevention.”

Merck Research Laboratories, a division of Merck & Co. Inc., funded the study; several authors disclosed financial relationships with Merck and other pharmaceutical companies.

I am dismayed that such a credible publication would print potentially harmful information for young women receiving more than one vaccine.  First of all each single vaccine dose meets EPA standards for heavy metal toxicity – when combined – the limits are far and above guidelines set forth by the regulating agency.

Secondly and most importantly – any drug study that is funded by the pharmaceutical manufacturer and/or any other individual or entity with an invested interest should be considered null and void. The time has come for independent studies – especially for this demographics of young girls.  If you read the VAERS reports you would see that there are many adverse reactions reported from Menactra and Gardasil when given co-currently. Someone needs to be doing some research before posting an article that is blatantly perpetuating misconceptions to the public.

WASHINGTON, DC – A new study, “Thimerosal Exposure & Increasing Trends of Premature Puberty in the Vaccine Safety Datalink” published in the most recent issue of the peer-reviewed Indian Journal of Medical Research, confirms a significant association in American children between an increasing rates of premature puberty and increasing exposure to mercury from Thimerosal-containing childhood vaccines.

Premature puberty (or precocious puberty) is characterized by sexual developmental before the age of eight in girls, and age 10 in boys. While the early onset of puberty may seem fairly benign, in fact, it can cause problems when hormones trigger changes in growth patterns.  Further, children with the condition may feel rejected by their friends and socially isolated.  Many of these children, especially the boys, are much more aggressive than others of their own age, leading to behavioral problems both at home and at school.

During the past decade, possible advancement in timing of puberty has been reported in the US.  Recently, attention has been paid to the possible role of endocrine-disrupting chemicals on the timing of puberty.  The US Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR) of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported that mercury is a known endocrine disruptor and it adversely affects the steroid synthesis pathway in animals and humans.

Over the last several decades, many infants received significant exposure to mercury from Thimerosal-containing childhood vaccines in the US.  Thimerosal, an organic mercury-containing compound that is 49.55% mercury by weight, is initially metabolized in vivo into ethylmercury compounds and thiosalicylate.

This new study evaluated the relationship between mercury exposure from Thimerosal-containing childhood vaccines and the risk of a child’s being diagnosed with premature puberty by a physician in a cohort of 278,624 subjects in the CDC’s Vaccine Safety Datalink (VSD) database who were born in 1990-1996.  Significantly increased rate ratios were observed for premature puberty for a 100-µg difference in mercury exposure from Thimerosal-containing childhood vaccines in the birth-7 months (rate ratio=5.58) and birth-13 months (rate ratio=6.45) of age exposure windows. Further, the observed overall prevalence rate for premature puberty was about one in 250 children. This represents a significant (about 40-fold) increase in the diagnosed rate of premature puberty of about one in 10,000 children reported in prior government estimates.

Consistent with the results of this new study, in the early 1950s with pink disease, now known to be primarily caused by the use of mercurous chloride (Calomel) in teething powders and other drugs given to infants, children with a “pink disease” diagnosis were also commonly found to have altered states of adrenocorticol secretion, excessive production of androgen hormones, and pseudohermaphroditism.

The investigators concluded, “…the results of the present study show an association between increased Hg exposure from Thimerosal-containing vaccines and premature puberty. The observed effects were consistent with the known human endocrine disrupting effects of [mercury] Hg exposure…[and] efforts should be undertaken to remove Thimerosal from all vaccines as rapidly as possible…”

This landmark study was supported by the not-for-profit 501(c) 3 corporations: CoMeD, Inc and the Institute of Chronic Illnesses, Inc, and by the Autism Petitioners’ Steering Committee of the no-fault National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (NVICP).

If you watched “Frontline: The Vaccine Wars” you probably learned:

1) Unregulated free speech is dangerous, especially the internet which is a major cause of the autism epidemic

2) Parents have access to way too much information

3) Pediatricians, not children, are the real victims of this phony epidemic

4) Parents who do not vaccinate are selfish, naïve and are putting the health of the entire Unites States of America, and possibly the world, at risk.

6) Despite numerous reports to the contrary, are no conflicts of interest between the CDC and the vaccine industry. That is why we were afraid to discuss it on “Frontline.”

7) The risks of unlimited vaccination are infinitesimally  small, so small you don’t even understand how small, teeny tiny small, so small we won’t measure it or allow public access to adverse vaccine reaction records
