Rochester, NY (PRWEB) February 08, 2012

The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) has learned that Merck recently funded a study conducted by Dr. Chun Chao from Kaiser Permanente. USA Today reported: “Study: No link between HPV vaccine and autoimmune disorders” on January 28, 2012. In the opening paragraph, the story says that “The human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine Gardasil does not trigger autoimmune disorders.”

Should the reader believe the report? Is it possible that the researchers, who conducted the study, are biased?

According to USA Today, this study was funded by Merck, the manufacturer of Gardasil. Many scientific papers argue that the public should not trust any industry funded research.

For instance, a paper published in the Indian Journal of Medical Ethics says that, “Empirical research indicates that much of the evidence required for the practice of evidence-based medicine cannot be trusted. The research agenda has been hijacked by those with vested interests within industry and academia, determining what research is funded and how it is done and reported.” It went on to say, “Many well-reported randomized controlled trials are designed to deceive by their choice of comparators and outcomes….”

Another paper published in the American Journal of Orthopedics says, “…industry-sponsored clinical trials have traditionally been associated with more positive results.”

Yet another paper published in Science and Engineering Ethics says, “Pharmaceutical companies fund the bulk of clinical research that is carried out on medications. Poor outcomes from these studies can have negative effects on sales of medicines. Previous research has shown that company funded research is much more likely to yield positive outcomes than research with any other sponsorship.”

Finally, a paper in PLoS ONE quotes Dr. Daniele Fanelli as writing, “about 2% of scientists admitted to have fabricated, falsified or modified data or results at least once –a serious form of misconduct by any standard– and up to one third admitted a variety of other questionable research practices including “dropping data points based on a gut feeling”, and “changing the design, methodology or results of a study in response to pressures from a funding source”.

What do these papers say in simple terms?

When a company pays for the study, beware. The results usually show what the company wants them to show. In other words, those who have the gold, somehow, determine the results.

In this case, the company with the gold is Merck, and the product is Gardasil. It is certainly within Merck’s interests to disprove any connection between their vaccine and autoimmune disorders. And lo and behold! The results promote Merck’s interest.

Merck’s funded study relies on correlation, a weak approach at best. The CBCD would like to suggest another method for answering the question about Gardasil and disease. It is called the mechanistic approach. In simple terms it is answering the following question, “If Gardasil causes disease, what is the biological mechanism that leads from getting the Gardasil shot to becoming ill?”

Dr. Hanan Polansky’s discovery of “Microcompetition with Foreign DNA” provides such a biological mechanism. Microcompetition explains how the DNA fragments found in the Gardasil vaccine can cause major diseases, including autoimmune disorders.

Dr. Hanan Polansky is the author of the highly acclaimed “Purple” book, entitled Microcompetition with Foreign DNA and the Origin of Chronic Disease. In his book he explains how foreign DNA fragments can cause many major diseases without damaging (mutating) the human DNA.

“Not only does the book present a strong theory to unify the cause of many diverse disease states, the book itself represents an aspect lacking in the field of medical science, an attempt to unify observations into coherent theories.” – Q. Ping Dou, PhD – Co-Leader, Prevention Program, Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute, and Professor, Department of Pathology, School of Medicine, Wayne State University

The book has been read by more than 5,000 scientists around the world, and has been reviewed in more than 20 leading scientific journals such as the Archives of Virology and the European Journal of Cancer.

The CBCD encourages biologists, virologists, geneticists, scientists and the general public to obtain a copy of Dr. Hanan Polansky’s book and read it. The book is available as a free download from the CBCD website.

The CBCD endorses Dr. Polansky’s theory, and invites the media, scientists, and the general public to contact us on this issue.

Please visit Holy Hormones Journal - The Greatest Story Never Told for similar articles.

Early case may have led to mass hysteria, state health department report says

Buffalo News

The twitching illnesses that have befallen a growing number of Le Roy students may have begun with a few girls with conditions traceable to concrete neurological causes.

Three of the original 12 Le Roy Junior-Senior High School students who came down with tic symptoms over the past few months had pre-existing medical conditions — including one diagnosed with Tourette Syndrome, according to a nine-page report released late Friday by the state Department of Health.

“Two of the three cases, who were tic-free for a period of time, experienced an exacerbation of tic symptoms during this time period,” the report stated.

These students’ pre-existing conditions might have led to the cascading effect of mass hysteria among the other students who have since been identified as having Tourette-like symptoms. The News had previously reported such a possibility could exist.

“We always were looking for the index case,” Dr. Lazlo Mechtler of Dent Neurologic Institute said Friday, referring to a medical case early on that could have influenced the other affected students. “Four of the cases never came to us.”

There are now 18 known cases of Le Roy students, as well as two adults, who have come down with illnesses involving involuntary twitches, movements and gestures, according to the Department of Health. Three have come to the attention of the Health Department in just the past few days.

All but one of the students are female.

This fast-moving story continues to change on a daily basis. On Friday, the Le Roy Central School District announced a community meeting will be held in the high school auditorium at 9 a.m. today to share plans for additional environmental testing by an outside firm.

Political leaders also raised new concerns about moving steel drums of potentially toxic material from a Le Roy Superfund site that stemmed from a 1970 train derailment and chemical spill.

In the Health Department’s first published report on the Le Roy outbreak, state health officials accept and support the conversion disorder diagnosis of treating physicians for the bulk of the afflicted students.

Of the original 12 students, ranging in age from 13 to 19, eight were diagnosed by physicians as having conversion disorder, real physical symptoms stemming from an underlying psychological cause.

The department also said it is still awaiting a final diagnosis on most of the remaining cases.

The students diagnosed with conversion disorder “all had significant life stressors,” the report stated.

The first case in the bizarre tic outbreak occurred in May. Three more cases appeared in September, and another four were identified in October, the month that the state Department of Health launched its investigation, according to the report.

Additional cases appeared in late November and December and more have popped up in Janurary and this month as international media attention on the tic outbreak has grown.

Of the original 12 cases, gender and attendance at Le Roy Junior-Senior High School was the only common factor. All 12 students were initially evaluated by WorkFit Medical, and eight of the 12 were subsequently evaluated by Dent.

“No common in-school or after school activities among the entire group were identified,” the report stated. “Four participated in cheerleading and two participated in soccer.

Toxicology screens were performed in seven cases, and five turned up negative. Tests for heavy metals in five of the cases were all negative.

One correction made by the Department of Health is in regard to the Gardasil vaccine, which protects against the human papillomavirus. It remains true that not all the girls received the vaccine, but eight of the original 12 did, according to the report. The department previously had stated that only two of the girls received the vaccine.

The Health Department still discounts Gardasil as a cause for the tic disorders, however, because not all the girls received the vaccine, and a safety study involving nearly 190,000 females showed no association between the vaccine and neurologic disorders.

All cases were female. Three of the 12 cases were identified as having pre-existing medical conditions associated with tic disorders. Two of the three cases, who were tic free for a period of time, experienced an exacerbation of tic symptoms during this time period. Onsets of tic symptoms ranged from May 2011 to December 2011 for the nine new onsets.

My good and learned friends here at Age of Autism, Mark Blaxill and Dan Olmsted, have been writing about LeRoy and some of the intriguing (AofA Tics and Toxins A History of Building Woes) and significant environmental factors that may be at play. (AofA Tics and Toxins Playing Fields on FEMA Flood Hazard) Kevin Barry, an avid Age of Autism reader and researcher, also included some historical, pertinent pieces as to what could be making some of the teens so ill. Having my own daughter with similar issues of sudden onset motor and vocal tics, seizures and a history of repeated Strep infections, parasites, and lengthy viral illnesses has made the search for the source of this mystery all the more important to me.

Since Dan, Mark and Kevin all mentioned WATER as an important variable as to what was different in the LeRoy area this past Spring, I agree and also wondered if that played into another source of illness — STREP. PANDAS/PANS - Pediatric Acute-onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome has been denied and dismissed quickly by many of the NY investigators and medical personnel. Doctor Rosario Trifiletti, who specializes in PANS, visited Le Roy to take blood and tissue samples from some of the affected teen girls, so he could test for PANS. The results are pending. A very thorough article from Scientific Scientific American – “Could an Infection Cause Tourette’s-Like Symptoms in Teenage Girls?” echoes that possibility:

“PANS is a new name for an old idea: that infections by bacteria, viruses or parasites can cause the sudden onset of neuropsychiatric ailments such as Tourette’s and obsessive-compulsive disorder OCD. (Tic disorders like Tourette’s are closely related to OCD, sharing many symptoms and often coexisting in patients. PANS is more commonly known by its former name, PANDAS—pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorder associated with streptococcal infection—because the first known cases were in kids who had strep throat and then suddenly developed OCD. But researchers have realized in recent years that a variety of infectious agents—not just strep—can cause mental illness….. OCD expert, Michael Jenike, a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, explains what PANS is and why it might account for the mysterious illness in Le Roy……It’s the sudden onset of a neuropsychiatric disorder: OCD, anorexia or psychosis, cognitive problems. Initially, PANDAS was associated with strep. It turns out that other infections like mycoplasma, certain viruses, Lyme disease—these also produce the same thing. So it’s not necessarily associated with strep, and they changed the name to reflect that. Now it’s any sudden-onset neuropsychiatric disease.

The philosopher of science Mary Midgley (1995) doesn’t mince words. She tells us: “The theory of evolution is not just an inert piece of theoretical science. It is, and cannot help being, also a powerful folk-tale about human origins.” Along these lines, stories about reproductive physiology are important folk-tales about what’s natural for women and what their life course should be.

What are the stories about menopause? One is that living beyond menopause is a biological puzzle. The argument goes like this: Most animals reproduce up until, or close to, the end of their natural life span. This makes sense, because theoretical biology tells us that animals reproduce as much as possible to leave as many offspring as they can. Why women live beyond menopause is therefore a puzzle. One answer is that we can expect to live thirty years past menopause because technological innovations have resulted in the conquest of infectious disease, the generation of great food stores, and other advances. As recently as the turn of the century, the average woman lived 47 years. Far longer, probably, than our prehistoric forebears: prehistoric hunter-gatherers were probably old at thirty. Living many years past menopause is therefore a recent historical development. Not surprisingly, if aging women are “outliving their ovaries,” menopause is associated with a variety of unpleasant experiences and health problems.

What are some facts relevant to this story? First, is living past menopause a new historical development? Well, ….No. Old age is not an invention of the twentieth century. Betsy Ross died when she was eighty-four. Classic Greek and Roman medical writers (including Hippocrates himself) and traditional Eastern medical systems all discuss menopause. In the Old Testament, Sarah laughed when God said she would bear a child even though it had “ceased to be with her after the manner of women.” Might the Bible have been referring to menopause?

What about the idea that prehistoric humans died before menopause? Studies by anthropologists suggest that modern hunter-gatherers do live to old age. Therefore, perhaps our prehistoric hunter-gatherer forebears did so as well. Richard Lee (1985), for example, studied the !Kung San in Botswana. About 10% of the population were over sixty years old, and it was not unusual to find !Kung aged 70 or 80. Lancaster and King (1985) found, when twenty-four hunter-gatherer and horticulturalist groups were examined, that 53% of the women who lived to age fifteen could expect to still be alive at age 45.

As many as nine secondary schools in the city are thought to have been involved.

It is currently unknown exactly how many youngsters have taken part in the scheme.

Parents say they have been forced to inspect their child’s arm for any sign of the implant.

Health chiefs have defended sexual health services going into schools, saying teenage pregnancies had dropped by 22 per cent as a result.

But campaigners from the Family Education Trust say the implant fuels the flames of promiscuity by giving girls licence to have underage sex.

Norman Wells, director of the trust, has urged health chiefs to look at ways of discouraging sexual activity amongst children in the first place.

He said: “Schemes like these inevitably lead to boys putting pressure on girls to have sex.

“They can now tell their girlfriends: ‘You can get the school clinic to give you an implant, so you don’t have to worry about getting pregnant.’

“They’ll tell them they don’t have to face the embarrassment of going to see their doctor, and it’s all confidential so their mum doesn’t need to know a thing.

“Parents send their children to school to receive a good education, not to be undermined by health workers who give their children contraceptives behind their backs.

“Health authorities should be looking for ways of discouraging young people from engaging in sexual activity in the first place.

“The last thing they should be doing is fuelling the flames of promiscuity and the sexual health crisis with schemes that treat parents, the law and basic moral principles with contempt.”

Tuesday, February 07, 2012 by: Rosemary Mathis, Vice President of Victim Support, SANE VAX, INC.

According to government health authorities, medical ‘experts,’ and the pharmaceutical industry adverse events after vaccinations are extremely rare. The attitude of these organizations toward individuals who do experience an adverse reaction to vaccines was recently summed up quite clearly in an article titled, The Value of Life, Statistically Speaking by Rick Jones, CFO magazine which stated:

“Inoculating children to prevent infectious disease transmission is good for society from both health and financial perspectives, but some initially healthy children may suffer adverse reactions, injury, or even death. For vaccines, the enormous societal benefits trump the tragedies of the few.”

In other words, those who suffer adverse reactions, injury and even death are viewed as acceptable collateral damage, nothing more than statistics. Allow us to introduce you to a small sample of the statistically ‘rare’ adverse events after receiving the HPV vaccine, Gardasil:

Jessie Ericzon: Jessie was one of those rare individuals who truly had a zest for life. In her universe everyone deserved a fair chance and she made it her personal mission to make sure everyone around her had one. She excelled at everything she tried; truly an individual who had the world by the tail.

All of her hopes and dreams came to an abrupt end on February 22, 2008. That is the day her parents discovered her dead on the bathroom floor a mere 40 hours after her third injection of Gardasil.
Jessie’s parents are left to deal with the fact that their precious daughter is indeed ‘One Less’ woman who will have to deal with cervical cancer.’

Chris Tarsell: Chris was discovered dead in her college dorm room bed 18 days after her third dose of Gardasil. Her abrupt departure from this world has left a multitude of people wondering what happened to this sweet, spirited, generous and caring individual who had been such a credit to the human race.

Chris’s coroner could not identify a cause of death in this previously healthy girl. Are those left behind supposed to believe some strange, ‘coincidental’ force of nature took her life as alleged by the CDC? Chris’s death was not thoroughly investigated by the CDC/FDA. One would think they would at least talk with the family to gather information regarding pre- and post-injection symptoms? Shouldn’t they do a statistical analysis of post injection deaths to determine the probability of these deaths being “coincidences”? Such an analysis was done by Dr. James Garrett in a report posted at www.gardasil-and-unexplained-deaths.com . This report concluded it is statistically untenable to claim that none of the reported deaths was related to Gardasil. Where are the government health agencies charged with protecting the health and safety of the people who pay their wages? Why are they using inadequate data provided largely by the manufacturer to track vaccine safety? Why is the fox guarding the hen house?

Annabelle Morin: Annabelle ended up in the hospital with aphasia (the inability to understand spoken or written words) and great difficulty standing 16 days after her first dose of Gardasil. None of her family knew Gardasil had been administered, so no connection was made between her symptoms and the vaccine. 15 days after her second injection, this 14-year-old, French Canadian girl came home from school, had her dinner and went to take a bath and read a book. Half an hour later, with no warning, she was gone.

Once again, the coroner could not identify a cause of death. Did this spur a complete investigation to find out what may have caused her death? No! Canadian health authorities seem no more concerned than their counterparts in the United States.

One more precious life cut short leaving family, friends and neighbors wondering why no one seems to care what happened. Why is more investigation done for an accidental death than one that no one, including the coroner, can explain?

Jasmine Renata: Jasmine received her first injection of Gardasil in September 2008. One month later, she developed warts on her hand and very dry skin. The warts were taken care of, but shortly after the second shot, they returned along with bouts of dizziness, numbness and tingling in her hands, abdominal pain and memory losses.

On March 17, 2009, Jasmine got her third and final dose of Gardasil. Her condition quickly deteriorated. She became more agitated, continuing to complain of tingling in her hands and feet, along with various other new symptoms. Her memory losses were so severe she could not remember simple things like how to grate carrots. Shortly after, she began to experience chest pains and rapid heartbeat.

Just a little over 6 months after her third injection of Gardasil, this once healthy, hard-working 18 year-old girl died in her sleep. The 22 of September 2009 was the last day of her life. Jasmine’s coroner ruled out drug and alcohol abuse as potential causes of her death. But, much like the other girls, no cause of death could be established. How do the health authorities in New Zealand respond when a young woman dies suddenly with no apparent cause? Unfortunately for the Renata family, they responded much like those in the United States and Canada. They do not appear to be concerned – just another coincidence, apparently.

Megan Hild: At 20 years old, Megan was happy and healthy. She was studying radiology in college and looking forward to her planned marriage after graduation. She held life in the palm of her hand.

Megan was living away from home while attending college, so her mother was not totally aware of the health problems she experienced after taking Gardasil. Megan’s new medical conditions included unexplained rashes, severe stomach pains, migraines, extreme fatigue and vaginal bleeding. Imagine the shock when shortly after speaking with Megan on the phone her precious daughter was found on her knees in the shower of her college apartment – dead. Only after her sudden death would mom discover the new medical conditions Megan had after her Gardasil shots.

Megan’s mother will not have the opportunity to watch her daughter’s dreams come true. She, her family and Megan’s fiance are left with nothing to hold onto but a piece of paper that reads, “Cause of death, unknown.”

Megan’s mother is still trying to grapple with the belief that a vaccine meant to protect her daughter’s future health may have taken her life. She does not understand why no one in a position to investigate seems to care. She does not understand why health officials appear quite content to allow the cause of Megan’s death to remain ‘undetermined.’

These young women represent a small fraction of those who paid the ultimate price following Gardasil vaccination. It is common knowledge that only 1 to 10% of adverse reactions are actually reported to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). Are these young women representative of 50 other devastated families or, 500 others? No one knows.

Try explaining to those left behind that their loss is acceptable for society’s benefit when the only benefit Gardasil is clinically proven to provide is a 0.6% reduction in HPV 16 infections, and a 1.1% reduction in HPV 18 infections in vaccinated women versus unvaccinated women, providing they were not previously exposed to these two types of HPV prior to being vaccinated. (ATHENA study referenced below)

What about the 108 death reports filed with VAERS after HPV vaccine administration? How many others world-wide do they represent? 1,080? 10,800? Once again, no one knows. At what point does the collateral damage become unacceptable?

Explain to these families why they are left to their own devices if they want to know what caused their child’s death. Had these deaths occurred after the use of any product other than a vaccine, the offending product would have been promptly removed from the market pending the outcome of investigations to determine the cause of the problem.

There is no valid excuse for the situation to be different with vaccines. It is high time for the FDA/CDC and every other government health agency worldwide to man-up and actually do the job they are paid to do – protect public health and safety. Investigate each and every death thoroughly. Determine the causes.

It should not be up to the survivors to prove a causal relationship; it should be up to the manufacturer to show that none exists.

Abstract

Background: The relationship between menopausal characteristics and later life mortality is unclear. We tested the hypotheses that women with surgical menopause would have increased all-cause and cardiovascular mortality compared with women with natural menopause, and that women with earlier ages at natural or surgical menopause would have greater all-cause and cardiovascular mortality than women with later ages at menopause.

Methods: Women who participated in the Iowa cohort of the Established Populations for the Epidemiologic Study of the Elderly (n=1684) reported menopausal characteristics and potential confounding variables at baseline and were followed up for up to 24 years. Participants were aged 65 years or older at baseline and lived in rural areas. We used survival analysis to examine the relationships between menopausal characteristics and all-cause and cardiovascular mortality.

Results: A total of 1477 women (87.7% of respondents) died during the study interval. Women with an age at natural menopause ≥55 years had increased all-cause and cardiovascular disease mortality compared with women who had natural menopause at younger ages. Type of menopause and age at surgical menopause were not related to mortality. These patterns persisted after adjustment for potential confounding variables.

Conclusions: Among an older group of women from a rural area of the United States, later age at natural menopause was related to increased all-cause and cardiovascular mortality. Monitoring the cardiovascular health of this group of older women may contribute to improved survival times.

While annual sales of statin drugs have reached 29-billion dollars a year, globally, new concerns are being raised by a broad range of health and consumer advocacy organizations around the world regarding the growing body of clinical research indicating they may be causing far greater harm than good.

Despite the success of statin drugs for lowering cholesterol, over 300 health problems have been linked to this chemical class of drugs in peer-reviewed clinical research found on the National Library of Medicine.

GreenMedInfo.com, a biomedical research site, is offering a 63-page PDF for free and unlimited download, as part of a broad-based awareness campaign dedicated to informing consumers and health care practitioners alike of the danger represented by the indiscriminate and excessive use of this chemical class of drugs.

Natural Society, which has established a global following due to its hard-hitting investigative pieces into the role corporations play in adversely affecting environmental and human health, is spear-heading the dissemination of this message, and openly invites other organizations to join the cause.

The medical-ethical principle of informed consent requires that patients be told the risks and benefits associated with their treatment. Until there is full awareness among the millions of statin users in this country and abroad that these drugs may be contributing to muscle damage, nerve damage, cancer, diabetes, and hundreds of other adverse health effects, we believe the burden of proving them safe should be on the companies producing these products, as well as the regulatory agencies approving them for use, instead of the population being given them.

Curt Linderman Sr.
Infowars.com
February 3, 2012

As of Dec. 2011, there have been 24,610 documented adverse reactions associated with the HPV vaccines, 3,269 have been serious. Given the fact that data from the VAERS (Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System) database and the National Vaccine Information Center claim that less than 10% of adverse reactions are actually reported, these numbers could be far more frightening.

Sane Vax, an HPV vaccine victim’s advocacy group (www.sanevax.org) recently sent an open letter to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius (1). In this letter and subsequent articles pertaining to HPV Vaccine injuries, it is explained that all drugs given a “fast track” or accelerated approval process through the Food and Drug Administration, are required to verify and prove the fast tracked drug is actually effective and safe through post marketing studies (2). Gardacil was one of those “fast tracked” drugs, despite the fact that I can’t seem to remember the epidemic of young women dropping in the streets, succumbing to cervical cancer. There was no reason to fast track such a vaccine. This kind of tactic should only be available for epidemic and pandemic viruses.

A recently published, and industry sponsored, study (3) conducted on 12,852 young women seems to prove, beyond a reasonable doubt, that HPV vaccines are not working and even seem to be causing cancers! Gardacil and Cervarix, the two HPV vaccines manufactured at this time, only vaccinate for a small number of the human papillomavirus strains and in this study, suggest that HPV vaccination was found to reduce HPV-16 infections by a mere 0.6% in vaccinated vs. unvaccinated women.

Sane Vax states that, in the very same study, 2.6% to 6.2% more HPV vaccinated young women experienced other high risk (carcinogenic) HPV infections than unvaccinated women! When one considers the drastic numbers of adverse reactions, the lack of proof that any post marketing studies are showing success for the vaccines and the outcry from parents regarding draconian measures from governments to force girls (and now boys) to get vaccinated, Secretary Sebellius, the HHS and the FDA should immediately stop the HPV vaccine recommendations and forcibly remove the product from the market.

Why on earth would they continue to mandate these vaccines to our young girls and boys, given the facts that you, the reader, have available now? Given the PAP smears and other gynecological efforts made available to girls around the western world, this vaccine will end up being a nightmare. These girls, believing that the FDA and Secretary Sebellius have done their homework and the vaccine is both safe and effective, will believe they are protected and be less likely to go to the doctor for their checkups. This alone will cost numerous lives. Add to this, the evidence from this most recent study that vaccinated girls are getting more cancers, and you have a recipe for disaster.

Obese women who take long-term birth control injection Depo-Provera may be at greater risk for developing diabetes, according to a new USC study.

Researchers at the Keck School of Medicine found that obese women who received the Depo-Provera injection become more resistant to insulin. That means they were less able to lower their blood sugar levels, which leaves them more susceptible Type 2 Diabetes.

Researchers compared the effects of the drug on 10 obese women and five women of healthier weight. Both groups became more insulin resistant after the injections, but the obese women stayed that way. The others were better able to compensate, by producing more insulin.
