Most of my adult life I have lived with the knowledge that I am at increased risk of cervical cancer. As a DES Daughter I have a lifetime risk of a rare clear-cell cancer of the cervix/vagina. This cancer, causally linked to in utero exposure to DES, is aggressive, symptomless and the usual Pap smear will not pick it up. I have to have an annual “DES examination” that involves colposcopy. 3,000 babies a year could have condition that puts them at risk from jab, says expert.
Fresh fears for the safety of MMR vaccinations will be raised this week with a claim that more than 3,000 British babies could be at risk of autism and even death each year.
The claim centres on a condition that affects one in 200 people.
In a new edition of his book, The Truth About Vaccines, Dr Richard Halvorsen collates the latest studies that suggest children with the condition have developed autism after jabs.

Merck’s quest to expand the use of Gardasil to boys may have hit a snag. A new study by Harvard researchers found that vaccinating all boys with the human papillomavirus shot may be less cost-effective than for girls, Bloomberg reports. The improvements in quality and length of life aren’t as marked in boys as in girls, the study found, and its authors recommended that health officials focus on vaccinating girls against HPV.
Merck, however, has done its own analysis of the numbers, looking at boys and young men up to age 26. HPV causes cancers of the anus and penis, along with the cervix, and vaccinating males may not only prevent their illness but curtail the spread to women. Plus, Gardasil protects against strains of HPV that cause genital warts, which affect men as well as women, the company points out.

A U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) advisory panel voted to recommend approval of three popular psychotropic medications—atypical antipsychotics— for children with specific conditions. The vote concerned AstraZeneca PLC’s Seroquel, Eli Lilly and Company’s Zyprexa, and Pfizer Inc.’s Geodon .
According to the agency’s advisory panel, the three drugs have been deemed safe and effective for pediatric patients—children and teens—who have been diagnosed with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, Reuters reported. However while the panel did recommend approval of the broader use for Seroquel, Zyprexa, and Geodon, it did warn about the drugs’ long-term effects in children, said Reuters. All three drugs are approved for use in adults and, like any other medication, can be used off-label if the prescribing physician feels the medication is warranted, in this case, to children, Reuters pointed out. An expanded approval by the FDA would enable the industry to market the drugs for kids.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday strengthened warnings on Merck & Co.’s (MRK) Gardasil vaccine about fainting after receiving reports of “traumatic injuries” among some vaccine recipients. In a posting aimed at health-care professionals posted to the agency’s Web site, the FDA said all vaccine recipients should remain seated or lying down and be closely observed for 15 minutes following vaccination “to prevent falls and injuries.”
