More than 100,000 doses of the H1N1 vaccine are being withdrawn across the country, after Manitoba health officials announced Thursday they’d noticed a higher-than-usual number of allergic reactions from one batch.
Vaccine manufacturer GlaxoSmithKline has asked several provinces to set aside the 170,000 doses from the questionable batch.
GSK say the batch recall is a precaution an they will investigate to see whether there is something wrong with the batch.
“GSK is taking this cautionary action because the Public Health Agency of Canada has received a higher than expected number of reports of anaphylaxis in this lot number compared to other lots,” the company said in a written statement Thursday.
One or two allergic reactions are expected in a batch that size. But health officials recorded six severe allergic reactions and alerted GSK.
Dr. Joel Kettner, Manitoba’s Chief Medical Officer of Health, urged people not to be alarmed, noting the anaphylaxis reactions were short-lived and all the patients recovered.
Comment from Leslie
Lot numbers and concerns about allergic reactions to Gardasil have been discussed for the past two years and adverse reactions over 17,000 – so now you are telling me that SIX allergic reactions were reported to GSK and they are being recalled. What kin dof BS is that?
Vaccine damage is vaccine damage – it does not matter the type of vaccine. They all have harmful ingredients.
Big Pharma will take a fall on this – before they injected the innnocent and voiceless – infants and elderly; infants could could only scream and not communicate their pain, and the elderly whose symptoms were attributed to diseases of old age.
Now they are vaccinating a middle population with voices – ajust like Gardasil – even though the voices of these innocient teen girls have been ignored -and we will see the reactions come in – and mark my words the barbaric industry will fall on this one.
Injecting people with toxins in the name of disease prevention – what kind of medicine with that? It needs to stop since Pharma is lining up an entourage of vaccines for all different types of illnesses.
