Mothers Alliance of Ireland Response to Minister Harney

Mothers Alliance of Ireland

October 4, 2010

Dear Minister Harney,

MAI has asked me to respond to your letter of 24th September. and to express the annoyance and anger of our members at the thoroughly inadequate response by you, Minister, to our letter of 8th September, 2010.

The purpose of our letter to you, Minister, was to highlight the fact that critical information about Gardasil has been withheld from parents and the public and the lives of our children are being put at risk. Our complaint was evidence-based and verified, but your response has completely ignored this evidence

The HSE HPV vaccine campaign is misleading, mis-informing and could, therefore be deemed fraudulent.   Reports coming into the public arena at present are exposing the truth about the HSE and its failure to properly manage the health service of this nation.  As Dr. Margo Wrigley, President of the Hospital Consultants’ Association said recently, HSE as it currently operates is “not fit for purpose”.

The Irish Examiner headline described the HSE wastage as “Madness on a Grand Scale”.  Well this mass vaccination programme will eventually be seen to be topping that scale of madness, because not only is it a waste of valuable resources, it is unsafe, ineffective and unnecessary.

Please take immediate action to put a halt to this madness.  The buck stops with you Minister.

Nora Bennis,

MAI National Spokesperson.
