Washington (ECN) – According to a new study published by researchers from the University of Southern California and Yale University, sexual satisfaction is not about hormones at all, but is instead all mental.
Researchers conducted their study on women who were all survivors of cervical cancer.
All of the women in the study had both of their ovaries removed. The belief was that when both ovaries are removed, sexual drive would decrease.
This would be due to the fact that the hormone testosterone would not be as active.
Researchers found this was not the case though, as sexual satisfaction was found to be more in the mind than in the body.
They found that over 80% of the cervical cancer survivors reported being sexually active.
Over 90% also stated that they still enjoyed sex, showing that sex is not all about hormones.
