Leslie Carol Botha

Called one of the twenty first century’s most prominent cycle thinkers, Leslie Carol Botha, Women’s Health Educator, is a member of the Society for Menstrual Cycle Research, author, publisher, television, and radio talk show host. She is an internationally recognized expert on women’s hormonal health. Botha is a social and political activist who has recognized the significance of the menstrual cycle in relation to other natural cycles that govern the world that we live in.

Botha is a member of the Cycles Research Institute whose mission is to: “discover, understand, and explain the true nature and origin of cycles, thereby solving the mystery of recurrent rhythmic phenomena, as has been observed in both the natural and the social sciences, and while so doing, to instruct others, and to apply this new knowledge for the greater good of all life.”

Her work and research focuses on the significance of the hormone cycle and its profound relationship to women’s psyche. Botha’s 30 years of research demonstrates how hormone changes/fluctuations in the menstrual cycle affect women’s physical, mental and emotional well being.

In 2007, Botha received a certificate of study and training in Whole Health and Whole Health Sciences from the National Institute of Whole Health. NIWH has been the pioneer in providing Whole Health Education® and Whole Health Care® since 1977. The organization is aligned with Harvard, Duke and Vanderbilt Universities and the Mayo Clinic to bring credentialing to health and wellness coaching. The National Institute of Whole Health (NIWH) is a nationally Accredited Provider of Professional Continuing Education and Development programs, endorsed and approved by leading national health care organizations.

In 2006, Botha received the Edward R. Dewey Award for her pioneering research on how women’s hormonal fluctuations affect their behaviors. The award was bequeathed by the Foundation for the Study of Cycles.

Her work is also featured in a new book titled: The World According to Cycles- How Recurring Forces Can Predict the Future and Change Your Life by Samuel A. Schreiner, Jr., published by Skyhorse Publishing, New York City.

Currently Botha is developing an educational pilot program for adolescents titled “Girl’s Empowered – Boy’s Empowered: A Comprehensive Curriculum on Adolescent Health.” The curriculum focuses on menstrual health education within an educational social, political and historical context of women’s worth, value and rights.

Botha has just published her first e-book co-authored by researcher H. Sandra Chevalier-Batik. Titled Understanding Your Mood, Mind and Hormone Cycle, the book is the first in a series on Menstrual Health Education.

Botha is currently the host of her own radio show titled “Holy Hormones Honey – The Greatest Story Never Told” on KRFC FM radio at www.krfcfm.org. The hour-long show airs the first and third Mondays of the month from 6-7 pm MST.

Botha’s main focus has been on educating women about their menstrual health and how their hormones affect their behaviors. She has dedicated the past 30 years sharing information via print and broadcast journalism, workshops and lectures, articles and publications and now this blog.

Holy Hormones Honey - the Greatest Story Never Told! has become a clearinghouse of articles from all over the world on all aspects of women’s health. It is probably one of the best libraries available to the lay person and all those concerned about women’s health care.

In order for women to make informed decisions about their health they need to have information, resources and data from credible sources that reflect current health trends. This blog has become a mission of love and dedication to women of all ages so that we can become empowered by who we are - and not victimized by education and information which has been denied to us - for far too long.

This site also focuses on the relationship between the menstrual cycle and other natural cycles that govern this planet. In order for women to understand the foundation of our true selves - we need to realize that we are the fount - the beginning of all of life on this planet - we have a place - a destiny and purpose - and because of our cycling hormones - we are Goddesses and nothing less.
